KurtDa says, "So what did you guys think about the essay"

JulieOw says, "I had mixed feelings"
AndrewGo says, "About what?"
KurtDa says, "I liked it, except that its like the drinking paradox"
KurtDa says, "you know, how there is no drinking age in Mexico, so there's not a big drinking problem, If you legalized it with a snap of the fingers here, we'd all go nuts"
JulieOw says, "How is it like the drinking thing"
JulieOw says, "Ok"
KurtDa says, "does that make sense to everyone?"
AndrewGo says, "Cool! I liked Cancun"
Mr.Cole has arrived.
Mr.Cole says, "Howdy."
AndrewGo says, "Hi"
Mr.Cole says, "What do you think of Goodman?"
KurtDa says, "We'd take ten years or so to settle down, and that's a lot of students learning absolutely nothing"
KurtDa says, "He had valid points, but it wouldn't work straight off."
JulieOw says, "yeah, it is like what I was saying. I would love to not have the pressures of grades, but if it ever really happened I would probably becojme very lazy"
Mr.Cole says, "Well, he does only suggest trying at a few 'elite institutions'"
AndrewGo says, "What is the defintion of elite"
KurtDa says, "but that would'nt work at first, students would take advantage of that"
Mr.Cole says, "A superior, exceptional group"
AndrewGo says, "Such as Harvard and Yale?"
Mr.Cole says, "Right. Or at least Goodman would say right."
AndrewGo says, "Who is to determine this scale anyway"
Mr.Cole says, "Well, that's always a question once you bring up these things."
AndrewGo says, "I guess so"
Mr.Cole says, "Julie raised a good point. What does Goodman say about students' objections?"
KurtDa says, "What do you mean, I would'nt mind"
Mr.Cole says, "?"
JulieOw says, "what Kurt"
KurtDa says, "Mr. Cole said something about "student objections", I said I wouldn't object."
AndrewGo says, "I think he means what did Goodman say"
KurtDa says, "I think learning is a lot, if not entirely, focused by motivation..."
Mr.Cole says, "Well, Julie said she's worried it might make her lazy. Goodman tried to address that point"
Mr.Cole says, "I'm going to check on the others. keep at it..."
KurtDa says, "And with an intresting teacher or class, it would work, but not every class or teacher is really intresting"
Mr.Cole goes out.
AndrewGo says, "I think it is all about motivation""
JulieOw says, "but if yoiu knew that you were not going to get a grade , you wouldn't go out and party every night"
KurtDa says, "Well, we need to know what we think about the essay, author, and views and come up with an opinion to share"
AndrewGo says, "Yeah, who is the leader anyway?"
JulieOw says, "not me"
KurtDa says, "No I wouldn't"
KurtDa says, "who wants to be leader"
AndrewGo says, "All you have to do is say that students need grades so they won't become lazy."
KurtDa says, "doeseveryone agree with me on the paradox?"
JulieOw says, "yes , I do"
AndrewGo says, "yeah"

KurtDa says, "I think students, after a period of time, would fall into Goodman's idea of the "new"system"
JulieOw says, " I agree with you, it would just take an adjustment period"
AndrewGo says, "Sure, I can go with that but how long"
JulieOw says, " then I feel peoplewould start learning for their own knowledge and not for the grade"
KurtDa says, "Probably until New students entirely got to college."
AndrewGo says, "Ones that have been through the system all their life"
