ScottFr say, "age limits in other countries and what type of problems they have compared to ours"

Mr.Cole says, "You might try 'drinking laws' and 'minimum age', Scott. The problem is, while there is some organized resistance to drug laws that provides info. on how drugs are treated elsewhere, I don't really know of any organized efforts to
reduce drinking ages."
ScottFr say, "I don't give up and usually find anything I set out for"
MiMa says, "well, mine is going to be that Europe is so much more laid back than america"
ScottFr say, "same here and how europe I believe has less problems with younger people"
MiMa says, "and that crime and stuff over there is not as bad as here"
ScottFr say, "b/c they aren't rebelling and such there"

JoeSa says, "Mr. Cole, if I was going to write a paper on the affects of alcohol and rape, how narrow do I need to state the thesis?"
MiMa says, "because they don't have to sneak to take drugs or drink"

Mr.Cole says, "Those sound good, Mi and Scott. But you will need to narrow down. Covering _all_ that terrirory would take a book or two."

Mr.Cole says, "Joe, you may not have to narrow down your topic so much as decide on a thesis. 'Alcohol and rape' is not an _argument_. You need to decide what you are going to argue for 9or against) within that topic area. "

Mr.Cole says, "Notice, we don't have a thesis yet. We are still weighing the evidence to decide what position is defensible."
ScottFr say, "it does in a way, b/c the girl who is really drunk will not fully understand what is going on and might actually say yes if she is extremely drunk, and she would be easier to handle (meaning hold down)"
Mr.Cole says, "OK, there's two arguments FOR (lowers inhibitions/clouds judgment and makes one physically vulnerable)."

fluences_ the occurrence of rape."

e and leave alcohol alone? It's in this second set of questions that i think Joe can find his thesis."
