JulieOw says, "I guess about if we are considered adults at 18 why cant we drink legally"
MaggieCa says, "oh well, I've got a lot to choose from i guess"

Mr.Cole says, "I though I would join y'all since I neglected you all week. How are the papers coming/"
FrankBl says, "that is what I am writing on Julie"

NickSm says, ""Due to a large number of problems with drinking which outnumber the benefits, alcohol should be banned throughout the nation." something like that, i guess"
MaggieCa says, "wow"

NickSm says, "imagine that..."

FrankBl says, "Julie what examples are you using"
JulieOw says, "i dunno"
Mr.Cole says, "sounds good Nick, Julie."
JulieOw says, "sir, what about me?"
Mr.Cole says, "Reducing the drinking age sounds good, Julie."
FrankBl says, "I am using MIP would cut down, froeign countries, considered an adult, old enough to vote and go to war, move away from home and should be able to assume all responsibility"
NickSm says, "so then can we assume the rest of the paper would sound as good, eliminating the need for me to write it, Mr. C?"
JulieOw says, "Well Frank probably like I said a few days ago, if we can fight for our country, vote and are considered adults why cant we buy a drink at a bare"
JulieOw says, "bar that is"
FrankBl says, "I will include that into my paper also"
Mr.Cole says, "Um, no, Nick."
NickSm says, "can't blame me for trying..."
FrankBl says, "it was a valient effort"
NickSm says, "thanx"
FrankBl says, "I think I spell that right"
FrankBl says, "Julie what are you going to use"
Mr.Cole says, "Considering nick is taking the ban alcohol position and Julie and Frank are going for expanding alcohol access, you should all three have a good sense of what your opponents are thinking."
FrankBl says, "yes but should you adress the opponents when you bring up the example or adress everything in the end"
FrankBl says, "anybody with any advice"
MaggieCa says, "no kiddidng"

NickSm says, "uh, not really, my brain hurts too much today"
JulieOw says, "I dont know what to say don't yell"
Mr.Cole says, "There's no set rule, Frank. You _can_ structure a whole paper around refuting opposing arguments, or it might be somehting you just refer to in passing."
JulieOw says, "ok....."
FrankBl says, "If I was going to set up my whole paper about refuting other people's argument how would I set that up without being just like point counterpoint"
JulieOw says, "dont ask me"
JulieOw says, "sounds pretty hard to do without doing that"
Mr.Cole says, "Well, obviously, you would give _your_ points more time."
FrankBl says, "I do not understand what you are saying"
Mr.Cole says, "Since America once had an 18 drinking age, you could pretty easily structure a paper for returning to that by refuting 2 or 3 of the main justifications for raising it to 21. (You'd have to know what they are, of course)."
JulieOw says, "interesting I totally forgot it used to be 18"
FrankBl says, "alright, but where could I find out info like that "
Mr.Cole says, "So you would say, 'It's been claimed that higher drinking ages reduce DUI incidents, but the same effect could be gained by making DUI laws tougher and not penalizing people who drink responsibly' and so on. "
FrankBl says, "I have stats and stuff like that but nothing on why they changed it back to 21 other than the death rate went up"
FrankBl says, "thanks"
Mr.Cole says, "I'm not sure, Frank. If you knew when it went up in Georgia, for example, you might be able to look at newspapers from that period. but that's a pretty inaccurate way of finding information."
FrankBl says, "I will play around on the internet and find something"
Mr.Cole says, "Good luck."
Mr.Cole says, "did any of the rest of you have questions/"
FrankBl says, "Julie you would not have any of that kind of info would you"
MaggieCa says, "nope"
JulieOw says, "not yet, but if I do find any I will email it to you or call you tonight"

Mr.Cole says, "OK. I promised I would let you break early. You guys have been good so you can leave. Remeber, rough drafts on the WB tomorrow. I'll have the heading posts up before then."
FrankBl says, "I will do the same Julie"
